Bircla Credit Cards to be Powered by SBI Cards

All Aditya Birla Group Companies from Retail - More Supermarket, Madura Garmenmts - Louis Phillipe etc to Financial services [Birla Sun Life] will launch their own Credit Card to encourage loyalty offers and lure customers to the platform.

Birla Credit Cards will be powered by SBI Cards which will act as the Bank and Card Issuer. This is the first major Co-branding by SBI cards.

With the Credit Card industry still evolving with regulations and reforms, Aditya Birla Group well known for financial muscle and intellect are staying away from the associated risk and passing it on to SBI. However, SBI is a veteran in the industry having learnt its lesson in association with GE by going aggressive in the market and hence will be over cautious in handing out cards to every second person.

Resolved Failed ATM Transactions

According to the RBI, their are 44,857 ATMS in India. Unfortunately they don't have a 100% uptime and hence issues arising of failed ATM transactions have come under the purview of the central bank.

RBI in its notification DPSS No.101/02.10.02/2009-2010 has instructed all the banks to resolve customer issues regarding failed ATM transactions. The bank is under the obligation to resolve this issue within 12 working days. In case of delay beyond 12 working days from the date of registering the complaint, the bank is under the obligation to pay Rs 100 / day to the customer.

In case of inter brank ATM transaction [You hold SBI card and ICICI ATM fails], the issuer bank is entitled to claim such compensation paid to the customer from the acquirer bank, if the delay is attributed to the latter.

India has 4,70,237 POS systems where your ATM cards are accepted and where you can withdraw cash upto Rs 1,000 / day.

Dena Bank Credit Card from SBI

SBI Cards in association with Dena Bank has launched SBI Dena Bank Credit Card for Dena Bank customers. The credit cards will be managed by SBI Cars and Payment Services.

SBI Dena Bank card is offered in two different categories - Gold and International. Offers attractive rewards program. Some of the customers will be eligible for Flexipay - easy installment plan where customers can choose the one best suited to their financial needs and NIL surcharge on fuel and lubricant purchases.

SBI Cards also said that its card issuance has come down to third of its peak of monthly issuance of 100,000 cards. Deliquencies in the Credit Card industry is a whopping 15%. Outstandings on SBI Cards is around Rs 2,000 crore. SBI is making all efforts to reach to customers with good payment track record but are facing problems in the current economic slowdown and offering them good packaged payment deals.
