Reliance Credit Card launched in association with Citi

Reliance Capital Limited, a Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group company has launched Reliance Credit Card in association with CitiBank India.

Last month, Reliance Capital Limited officials were in talks with HDFC Bank Limited and the deal was almost sealed but at the last minute ADAG walked out. We are not sure why Reliance Capital walked out of the deal with HDFC Bank Limited but highly reliable sources within ADAG tell me that Reliance Retail Limited controlled by Mukesh Ambani also announced their plans to tie up with HDFC Bank for a credit card and retail consumer finance.

The Co-branded Reliance Credit Card will be issued by CitiBank and will be available in two categories - Silver and Gold. Initially they will be launched in Mumbai and Delhi and then expanded to various metros.

Reliance Credit Card is free for life and you can earn reward points on the same which can be sent to recharge your Reliance Mobile. More on this will come soon. Keep checking back.

Recently, it was rumoured that Citi has increased its stake in HDFC Bank. Maybe Citi is planning to gobble up HDFC bank in 2009, when the banking sector in India will be opened to foreign players. Could that be a reason why ADAG walked out of HDFC and joined hands with Citi? May be this is a far fetched thought!!!

Anish, I was approached by citi bank rep for a credit card. As you said that you have a citi bank credit card, can you tell about their services? Do they have some hidden charges? I am very much scared about these kind of charges.

Ya I have citi credit card. I have no problem with their service. I mainly use the credit card for the convenience it offers me! I hardly carry cash with me now a days! And sometimes these citi people come up with some cool offers and cash back stuffs where I tend to gain. :-) As all cards citi credit cards too come with charges... But I find them nominal like any other service providers. I didn’t find any hidden charges till now.

do not got for citi bank credit card, the costliest of all the credit cards, check the rate of interest after the credit period with other banks, citi bank charges very highly and if you convert it into emi other banks charge you less than 1.4% to 1.2%, but citi bank charges you about 2.1%, double the other banks

HI,

I FEEL VERY BAD ON THE SERVICE PROVIDED BY YOU.I FEEL SHAME TOWARDS CITIBANK FOR THE BELOW ALL CONCERNED :

1.THE TELEPHONE NUMBERS THAT ARE PROVIDED BACK OF THE CARD SAYS CURRENTLY ITS NOT WORKING.

2.WHEN APPLYING FOR THE CARD CUSTOMER CARE PEOPLE WHO MAKES A CALL SAYS THAT YOU WILL GET THE FOLLOWING BENEFITS,BUT ONCE IT COMES TO OUR DOOR STEPS IT DOESNT CONTAIN ANY OF THE BENEFITS THEY SAID BEFORE.

3. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE YOU PROVIDE IS TOO POOR AND BAD.

WHEN I CAME TO KNOW THAT RELIANCE IS GOING TO LAUNCHE I FELT DOUBT ON THE SUPPORT PROVIDED BY THEM ,AND THEY PROVED IT.
